The Benefits and Appeal of Clear Menu Covers
There are so many elements in any restaurant or eating establishment that will contribute to the staining of menus that it is nearly impossible to prevent this from happening. That is, unless the menu itself is placed into some kind of protective covering. No matter how clean the restaurant is, there will be some food contact, dirty hands and normal wear and tear on the menus and the only way to give them any chance of extended shelf life is to put them in covers. And in addition to the amount of money you will save in continual menu replacement fees some of the cover designs are intended to add to the visual appeal of the menu.
While the choice for protection is obvious in most cases, each restaurant owner must decide on the specific style of cover that will work best for their image. The very basic and un-encumbering clear menu covers are the preferred choice for restaurants from various genres and price ranges. This is because they are the easiest to allow for the original menu design to show through and while they can add a hint of minimalist sophistication to the menu, they also present it at its best. For any restaurant owner that has put a lot of thought and effort into the design of the menu itself, it is generally going to be best for them to use a cover that protects and shows off the actual menu. They are also extremely user friendly for the customers who can clearly see through them and read the menus they contain.
More Than Just A Job
Regardless of age, earning money is a necessary obligation. For those who are into retirement they have the benefits of social security and retirement accounts that they worked hard for all of those years. For those just starting out, their jobs cover the necessary expenses now as well as planning for the future.
So many people spend years at jobs that they hate, doing things that they don’t enjoy, and measuring their existence by the time left until they can either quit or retire. Since working is something that we all have to do at some point in our lives, we might as well enjoy it.
Everyone perceives different benefits out of their jobs; whether it is giving back to the community, being involved in a good cause, or simply enjoying what they do and who they work for. There are some lucky people out there that have more than jus a 9-5 job. They look forward to going to work each day and anticipate what will happen next. For businesses like Southwestern Company, history is very important.
Southwestern has a strong reputation going back over 150 years of being involved in the community. They also have a fierce loyalty to their alumni and employees. Not to mention their line of education books and products that is helping to prepare future generations.
You know you have more than just a job when you get to be a part of writing history for the future.
Motivating Your Team
Unless you have been living under a rock for the past year, you are probably aware of the unstable economic future here in the United States. Although to date the government has tried various ideas and ways to pull us out of this economic crunch, including giving large sums of money to banks and large corporations, nothing has proven too successful so far. For those who own or manage a small or average size business, this could be less than encouraging news.
One way that many businesses have survived is by making severe cuts. This includes employees, services, benefits, and anything else that is not completely necessary. While this goes a long way towards cutting costs, it does not do much for employee morale. Don’t get me wrong, anyone that has a job right now should be extremely thankful. But with so many struggling to make ends meet, even going to work can be draining. Even though we a long way from being stable, the economy seems to have stabilized enough that now would be an ideal time to re-energize your employees and perhaps even increase business. After all, it is a well known fact that employees who are motivated are more productive.
One way that you can motivate your employees is by initiating a management training program or corporate team building programs. Both of these programs show your employees that you value their work and that your desire is for them to be successful. Each of these programs allows your employees to increase their training and their purpose. And in a tough time like we are going through now, that is something that we could all use.
Don’t let anymore time go by without showing your employees that they and the work they do matter. Show your appreciation for their loyalty in these tough times. And if your programs are successful, you’ll get more business out of it too.
Young Actor Lands Role in New York
My parents and even some of my friends told me I was pipe dreaming when I mentioned that I might want to pursue a career in acting. And mind you, I know that this is not a common ambition, nor is it usually encouraged by parents and for obvious reasons. Heck even in Elizabethan times actors barely registered higher than vagabonds and beggars on the social status ladder. And theaters were frequently outlawed when episodes of the plague would break out and other social unrest epidemic concerns. Meanwhile, this is not the late 1500s in England, it is the early 21st century United States and circumstances and laws have changed a great deal since then. However, even though I brought it up in as casual as possible manner, my parents immediately expressed their disapproval and some of my friends even seemed to judge me.
Well, the joke is on them now. Wait, that doesn’t fit. Well, in their face or something. No, honestly I don’t really even mean any of that. I am just so completely excited! Get this, I just landed my first acting job in New York City. For real, I’m not kidding! Of course I actually got it through my local theater company that I’ve worked with for a few years. It turns out they’re taking two productions to New York this summer and they held special auditions for ensemble members as well as outsiders and I was cast in one of the plays!
It’s not Broadway or even Off Broadway, but it is in New York City and we’re gong to stay in a hotel with great rooms with great views. I’m actually going to the city to star, well at least act in a play. I think I’m even going to look for jobs and maybe a place to live while I’m there. I have such a great feeling about this and part of it feels to me like it’s time to make the move and I’ll already be there so it’s not like I have to come up with additional money or resources just to check things out. Oh, and I can’t wait to visit Times Square. I’ve always had dream to visit Times Square, which even predates my Broadway ambitions. I also want to be on the David Letterman Show, but for this trip I’ll be happy sitting in the audience. Start spreading the news, I’m headed to New York City!
Phases of Communication
When information or data is shared between two or more people, and everyone has a clear understanding of that information, this is communication. This important word in that last sentence is “understanding”. Everything must be fully understood in order for communication to be successful, in order for problems to not occur. One may think that when people do not agree with us, that they do not understand, but this is not the case, they my just simply, not agree.
Two distinct phases must be followed through with, in corporate training programs, to board meetings, and those are the phases of transmission and feedback. Transmission is the phase of the message and the way in which that message is given, is transmitted. This is when the person speaking or writing must organize their thoughts and ensure that what they are saying or writing is exactly what they wish to communicate. The feedback stage is when the person who has received the message, responds. They too, must organize their thoughts, and send those thoughts back. Communication is all about the giving and the taking of information, to show that interpretations were correct and understandings were made. When problems arise it is usually due to peoples different perceptions of the same thought, words, or actions. This is subjective and has to do with each person’s own experiences, moods, values and attitudes.
When two people are communicating effectively with each other, these issues fall away. Executive training courses are available for managers which outline ways to go about being certain that communication skills in the office are the least of a company’s concerns. Most managers must be skilled in this area as much of their times is directly face to face with the employees. This is when the richest of informational content is delivered, and the feedback is immediate. This is the way that everyone can be certain that all are at a proper level of understanding, and improving on techniques to ensure this will take a company, the managers and the employees far.

Fall Focus
Summer has come to and end once again, well not officially but being after Labor Day holiday weekend it is the unofficial end of summer fun and beginning of the fall season of focus. Getting back into the swing of the fall routine with school and the kids and all is really the biggest marker of the changing of the season. Relaxed summer bed times are now replaced with more structure. Structure placed around everything from planning meals, weekends and time off. It is a double edged sword the structure provide a frame work to focus our time and accomplish what we need to get done. The other side is how nice the relaxed scheduling and unplanned day have a nice side to them as well. Lazy time to read, eat when you want and not really have too many plans for the days ahead, simply taking them as they come along. Once again we have passed that time away lazily enjoying our days and nights. Now days are reserved for working and learning and the nights will be for much needed sleep. Having signed on Transglobe Property Management to watch the rental this summer was really a good idea, nice not to have those interruptions. Going in to the heavy work season I will continue to be grateful for the services of Transglobe Property Management as I can focus on more important things than some of the more mundane issues that come up when managing property. The kids are getting older and needing more time for activities and friends which requires the assistance of someone to drive them around. So this is how it will be as they get older until they manage to gain a drivers licence and drive themselves and become independent.
What is a Corrective Action?
What is a corrective action? It is a solution to an existing problem – system weakness or product default that is has been highlighted by non-conformance issues, customer complaints or by adverse trends. Corrective actions are an integral part good manufacturing practice.
Corrective actions and all the information relating to them can be stored within a corrective action database. Using this type of database can help you store and identify all of the actions, and any reoccurrences relating to the corrective action. This can help to identify and address the root cause of the problem.
Upon determining the root cause then other areas which are related to it can be identified and then countermeasures can be taken to find ultimate solutions. This can result in new products or services having these countermeasures built into them. Corrective actions along with preventive actions are at the core of quality management. Corrective action software is often used to manage corrective actions.
Fire Walking in Singapore
Okay, so I’m stay at one of the Luxury Singapore Business Hotels which my company booked for a month. A month isn’t enough time to really get to know Singapore and the locals at all, but it is enough time to make some interesting acquaintances and possibly a love interest. I’ve only been here for two weeks when the bartender of my favorite bar mentioned that I should participate in the Theemidhi Festival. He told me then I need to participate in the Deepavali, the Festival of Lights. He told me, I’d get a better taste of Singapore and the people here.
I don’t know, I mean, I am only here for a month, do I really want to know Singapore better? But, then all he has to mention was how many beautiful single women participate in both festivals. Well, this peeked my interest. So, I asked him what the Theemidhi Festivals all about. He told me that it a Hindu Festival were they walk barefoot across white-hot embers at the Sri Mariamman Temple. It’s in honor of the Hindu goddess Draupadi. My bartender is Hindi, so he elaborated about who the goddess Draupadi is.
She’s a heroine of the epic poem Mahabharata. She was a princess who was the subject of her husband’s wager in a risky game of dice. Her husband played with his cousin, Duryodhana and her husband lost. She was then the property of Duryodhana. That wasn’t her only hardship; she was the epitome of harsh treatment of all women by men. So, the festival is in honor of Draupadi’s courage that devotees subject themselves to a test of faith by walking barefoot across of 4 meter pit or red hot coals. Deifying the intense heat, these devotees, these firewalkers focus and deep concentration to complete the challenge come out miraculously unscathed. But, not only unscathed, the devotees regard it as a test of purity. So, basically, it’s said that if a devotee is not pure, he or she will fail the test and be burnt.
I only have to watch, I don’t have to participate, which I wouldn’t anyway. My bartender said he’d be glad to go along with me, he figures if he’s seen with an American businessman, he’d have a better chance of getting a date with either one of the devotees or one of the visitors. That sounded good to me. Getting to know Singapore better.
How to choose a charity to give to
Okay so you have decided that you want to donate to a charity. Now, how do you decide where you would like your money to go? Before you decide which charity you should donate to, make sure you are donating to a reputable charity. Check out charitynavigator.org. They offer a comprehensive listing of tons of charities that would love to have your help.
Think about what you love and support. If you have a soft spot for animals, think about donating your time and money to the Humane Society or your local animal shelter.
Donate to causes that you find important. That way you will be able to feel good about where your money goes. If you find that childhood diseases and cancers are a big deal, you should donate to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. They are a hospital that specializes in children’s diseases and treating children whether or not they can afford treatment.
You also don’t have to donate anything monetary either. Something that is even more precious is your time. If you have extra time, think about getting involved in events or office work for your favorite organization. If you want to raise money, become a fundraiser and go around to local businesses and try to solicit donations.
Charities have hundreds of events that you can help them with. Everything from the American Cancer Society to the American Heart Association could use your help.
CEO of choosehottubsdirect.com, Steve Barbarich decided he found it important to support people after Hurricane Ike. So he donated some of his proceeds to help those affected by the hurricane.
It does not matter what you choose to do, a little bit of charitable effort will really go a long way. Just make sure you have a passion for what you are working with. Charity work is so important in this world today. Do it on your own, with your company or friends, but make time to do it.
