Etruscan Links Assisting Dental History
It is a much larger field than one may have first imagined. The history of dentistry is one that goes back to the prehistoric era. Perhaps it’s logical that there would always have been a need for dentists, given the tenacity of a tooth pain, which is something that everyone with teeth experiences to some degree. Yet not all of those who are practicing, or attending dental assistant school will necessarily be aware of the extent of their own field’s history in the world. Fewer still are aware that the practice was often elevated to an art form in various ways.
One of the greatest sources of evidence for this comes from the Etruscan civilization. The Etruscans, early ancestors to the modern Swiss, had sophisticated methods for nearly everything, and the breadth of their knowledge rivals other classical civilizations such as the Maya. In terms of their art output, there are plenty of splendid artifacts on display. Some might be baffled when they see some of the objects, which are nothing less than Etruscan dental devices . Most of these had the simple function of helping people to keep teeth in their mouth, but the level of artistry involved reveals a very imaginative people. Their legacies do continue in the very best dental practices today.

Risk Factors of Alcoholism
When we think about overcoming an addiction, we often think of drug addiction; however, alcohol addiction is just as dangerous and even more rampant. It touches every age group from young teens, adults, and even the elderly. No one sets out to become an alcoholic, just as no one sets out to be an drug addict, but consist use over an extended period of time eventually conditions the brain to need the alcohol. There are several early -warning factors that can help you recognize if you could be at risk.
One of the first, most common factors is genetics. If your parent or grandparent or other members of your family are alcoholics, there is a good chance you could become one also. There are genetic factors that can make you more vulnerable to alcoholism than someone outside of your family
Your emotional state can also affect your likelihood of alcohol abuse. If you rely on alcohol during stressful or high emotional situations, that can create dependence in those circumstances. Also, physiological factors such as low self-esteem or depression can lead to excessive drinking; especially in a group setting.
Peer pressure is a leading factor for young people to drink excessively. Through games and competitions, teens and young adults are often encouraged to keep increase the amount of alcohol they are consuming.
There are several signs that you, or someone you love, may be abusing alcohol. Drinking alone or in secret, loss of interest in family or hobbies, increasing the amount consumed, blacking out, and irritability are just a few of the symptoms associated with alcoholism.
If you or someone you love is abusing alcohol than the important thing to do is encourage them to seek help, perhaps even through an alcohol drug intervention. Whether they only require addiction treatment or the more involved dual diagnosis treatment, help is out there.
Hydrotherapy and Hot Tub Traditions
Hot tubs are full of health benefit potentials in addition to the great fun and entrainment possibilities they offer. Choosehottubsdirect.com is an excellent resource for information on the health associations with hot tub activities and features. Hydrotherapy is just one of the common uses for hot tubs that actively affect one’s health and well being. It has actually been in use for centuries and in various cultures.
Hydrotherapy has been recorded in association with ancient Egyptian culture and is also acknowledged as having been used by the Greek and Roman societies. This was most common in the Roman public baths that are well known in today’s society. Bathing in spring water was also considered to be an early form of disease cure and was used by the Romans as well as other cultures. Water has long been associated with certain health aspects one of its historical healing traditions is specifically with muscle, tendon and skeletal issues and disorders.
Today the practice has many treatment associations and is commonly used with various forms of arthritis and rheumatic diseases. It is also frequently used for treating partial paralysis conditions and spinal cord injuries. Prior to World War Two, water therapy was sometimes used for alcohol treatment. It is a common aspect of certain holistic and alternative medicinal approaches and therapies and while all of its alternative uses have not been scientifically proven, its uses are definitely supported by scientific research. When used in conjunction with sports training it can increase performance, endurance and strength as well as to relax and sooth sore, tired muscles. On a personal level, the benefits of hydrotherapy can be as simple as a providing a reliable and pleasing way to relax after a stressful day. Hottubs and the Benefits of the Sun
The hottub can be the new centerpiece of the home. It’s a place of refuge, that delightful idea you might have when you’re at work and the day is more stressful than you’d like, where you start to daydream about relaxing in the hottub when your work is done. It can also be the magnet that draws friends over for those lovely evenings where a barbecue and a soak is the order of the day. It helps to create new and fantastic memories, there’s no doubt about it, and has benefits that can’t be underestimated. The healing powers of hottubs are spoken of all over the world, and here you have it at your disposal. The benefits of water on the body are numerous, from regaining a sense of equilibrium, the sheer comforts of relaxation, and not to forget increased circulation. There are also benefits of relaxing in the sun.
Interestingly enough, there have been many new studies that suggest that moderate exposure to the sun can be quite healthy, and the risks are very much outweighed by the benefits. Of course, some common sense is necessary here, to remember that prolonged exposure can certainly damage the skin and open up the possibility of health problems. And burning can put you at risk for sure. It’s even been demonstrated that age might have something to do with it, where burning during the adolescent years can create problems later. Ironically, the adolescent years are often the time when people are most likely to spend time out in the sun, for recreation and also because of the beauty myths of the dark tan. As long as the extremes are avoided, the benefits of the sun can really start to play a role in your hottub experience.
The health benefits of the sun have to do with one of the more necessary chemicals the body needs, Vitamin D. The only sure way to get Vitamin D is by exposure to sunlight, and in moderation it can produce profound effects on physical as well as mental health. It counteracts the effects of Seasonal Affective Disorder, as well as produces serotonin, which balances out the mood in a profound way. So take some necessary precautions, don’t overdo it, but go ahead and get outside and enjoy your hottub during the daylight. It does wonderful things to the body and the mind.
A Past Life in Melbourne
The thought of being able to experience my past lives, to be able to travel back and see all the events, all the places and people who may have shaped what I am today, has always intrigued me. Was I ever famous? Wealth? Have I lived in an exotic place or traveled the world? The possibilities are endless. It has never occurred to me to be more curious to find out if I indeed had any past lives. It wasn’t until a friend of mine, one who I absolutely trust, did some research and realized that past life regression is used by many as a healing tool. Regression can help with conditions ranging from stress and anxieties to phobias, or even trouble with money and relationships issues can all be traced back to their roots in a particular past life.
When I was staying in one of the Melbourne 5 star hotels, someone mentioned to me about this woman who practices past life regression therapy out of The Mystical Dragon shop which is located in Melbourne’s south eastern suburbs. I went to go visit with her and ask her some questions. She told me a lot of people do have blockages in their lives where they feel they just can’t accomplish what they want to do, even do the dishes can be a real drag for them. So, she takes them back to touch base with what it is that might have occurred to cause their current situation. When regressed, it’s the actual witnessing of their past life that links up with the current issues of today which allow them to once again move forward with their lives.
She said with all forms of alternative therapies, the lack of scientific proof seems to attract mush skepticism. One problem is there is no evidence to prove people are experiencing actual past lives. Many say it’s all in the mind, a dream state created and controlled by the hypnotherapist. But, I decided to let her regress me, and I was amazed with just how easy it was for me to experience one of my past lives. I was a scullery girl back in what seemed like the medieval days, and I was horrible treated by my employer and all the upper tiered staff of a castle, I couldn’t tell where the castle was, but I could tell we were speaking in Gaelic. So, now I know why today, I refuse to clean my house and why I hire a maid service and tip them extra well.
Healing Touch Singapore
While staying at one of the Singapore spa resorts and got to participate, unexpectedly in an impromptu teaching about the importance of touch. I had, mistakenly walked into an staff training in the spa area of the hotel. The instructor invited me to take a seat, so I did. The staff was getting a re-charging lesson so they can always stay fresh with all the hotel clients.
I learned that touch is an ancient form of communication and communion. It’s the first means in which communication with other beings as soon as we’re born and brought into this world. Soon, as the years pass by, the human touch is gradually forgotten. In its place are endless technological and non-human touches. At the most, human touches becomes verbal talking at a distance. Touch is tactile feeding which is through the skin. Being touched means receiving or as the instructor like to put it: eating through the skin. To touch others means to give or to feed through the skin. However, at a certain point in this departure a return to the primordial touch is completely mandated by the very powerful and demanded forces of the sex energy. This calls for the preservation and propagation of the human race.
The loss and damage during this departure can be devastating. The human with all it’s instinctive, sex, moving, emotional and all the thinking parts are left in a decaying state of distress, pain and even hunger. So, the holistic touch is aimed to bring back touch with a faster rate and is more timely for the negative consequences of the departure of our endless, brake-less trains. Touch aids with redefining and remembering our own bodies boundaries and body image. Both in the physical and the spiritual realms. Touch aids in understanding of ourselves more succinctly as a four dimensional being.
So, for the spa staff, they were learning that as a result of a non-touching society their touch can elevate states of distress and promote a healing of diseases, personal growth and give a boost to our development of our potentials. By sensing, feeling and observing through touch exchanges, they will be able to understand the recipients.
The science of touch, the bodys knowledge and understanding can challenge those old worn-out beliefs and misconceptions that have been incorporated in the mechanical lives that are non-supportive for a healthy lifestyle. The communication of touch is one of the four physical dimensions that’s intangible and a supreme way to express an array of affection, disapproval or nurishment. There is a common physical touch which is normal, but that intangibility of that touch has such a great impact on the harmonious development of the human being and the human species.
Drinking Among the Elderly
Greater numbers in the elderly community in the United States drink more than they should. Either neglected or accidentally looked over, those in the medical community aften miss out on the fact that older people consume more alcohol than is recommended at their age.
In a study done with Medicare, scientists discovered that about 9 percent of people with Medicare benefits drank more than necessary from the age bracket of 65 years and older. The number of people used in the study was around 13,000 and provided a good example of the problem of alcohol in the elderly within society. With numbers growing, alcoholism intervention might become a growing trend among older loved in families.
Other researches provided more evidence that not all of the elderly are experiencing these same problems. However, the previously mentioned 9 present still pose a problem. In a month they can usually consume 30 or more drinks and in just one drinking session, they can drink 4 or more drinks. Most Medicare beneficiaries do not drink at all: 2/3 were found to be complete teetotalers. no official studies have been done with medicare to check on the possible growing number of alcohol abuse intervention.
Other statistics showed that those that do drink, drink within the limit that healthcare providers recommend. Researchers at Brandeis University found that about two-thirds of Medicare beneficiaries do not drink at all and 25 percent drink within recommended guidelines. But the remaining nine percent drink more than 30 drinks during a month or more than four drinks in any one sitting.
While alcohol abuse remains much more a problem within teenagers and young adults, the problem has been expanding for the elderly. Yet little news or attention has been given to this problem by the media or the medical community. But in many an addiction treatment center, there has been a definite increase in patients that
range in age from 65 and older.
Positive Effects of Sports and Music in Boarding Schools in Northumberland
Team work. Just one of the beneficial aspects children learn in boarding schools in Northumberland and in schools around the world. Benefits to ones health can begin at an early age, and should begin at an early age as studies show that physical activity throughout one’s life results in less instances of diabetes as one grows older, as well as ensures that ones bones and muscles will be as healthy and as strong as possible. And children who begin to exercise tend to remain active their entire lives. In the past thirty years, the occurrence of obesity in children and teenagers has doubled. Many factors have contributed to this, but mainly society in general has become more sedentary. People get their entertainment from the television, and more entertainment and work on the computer. According to some statistics kids watch television for approximately three or more hours a day, and spend twice as much time on computer video games. And as it relates to music, through participation in sports kids learn the value of teamwork.
Participating in music class will also have physical benefits for youth. Many rehearsals focus on breath work, this can be as exhaustive for one as is swimming or running. The motor skills for musicians become more developed and when working in bands, senses of cooperation and team work are essential, as with playing sports. It is a sad state of affairs however, that music programs, as well as other arts programs are being pulled from schools in an attempt to save money. It has long been known, that music provides children withopportunities in the studies of science and language, as well as mathematics, however budgets are often cut and the arts are first programs to go. In any case, there are still great programs available to students, and many touring companies make it through the United Kingdom to offer programs, and often times first looks at activities for some children. Northumberland remains dedicated to the students and they will benefit from the programs for many years to come.
